Jake Peavy being shopped? I'd hate to see him go...I have his throwback Jersey! And outside of AGonz, he's the only player exciting enough to pay a ticket for.
Having said that....if you can get a Herschel Walker type Bonanza for him....the kind that builds the team for the future, and we're talkin' FOUR bona fides, then you gotta do it. It would hurt, but you gotta do it.
Money Ball is an interesting theory and read but man does it suck in practice...implemented by the Padres anyway. GO RAYS!

The Padres are kings at selling off basically every great player they've ever had with some notable exceptions..
Do you think that if Tony Gwynn had not been against moving they wouldn't have sold him off as well?
Of course they would have... to leverage him to get four 'up and comers'.. so they too could be turned 'for a profit'.
I love the Padres but they're frustrating to say the least. Now I draw my humor from watching all the ex Padres players come back and make them regret the trades.
